It’s only been two years since my old pal and disability rights ‘influencer’ David Hingsburger died, leaving a very large hole in the advocacy world. Open Futures Learning ran this again yesterday on various social media in his honour. Thank you, Joe, for sharing Dave with us. So glad I got the chance to know you and work together to produce a couple of books and a very fun and long friendship.

What keeps a writer writing
Shadowpaw Press Reprise re-released my novel a couple of months ago. My publisher, Ed Willett, got in touch today with this nice little surprise. A thoughtful review from a great writer (and reader) provides just the right adrenaline to keep my nose buried in my sequel manuscript. Prizes are great and so welcome, but a good review does wonders. Thank you, Shelley. I can only hope you will find Inheriting Violet lives up to your expectations!
Thanks, SK Arts Board
This happy surprise arrived yesterday. I’m very grateful to be selected for a SK Arts Board grant that will allow me some flexible time to work on the sequel to my novel during the coming year. Their program to support independent artists is a godsend to so many throughout the province and I am honoured by the support. I’ll do my best!
