Eminent sense
A thoughtful, mature blogpost about guns, President Obama and the NRA. I think Adam Mordecai is my new BFF.
Thank you for coming out!
A big thanks to everyone who came out to my book launch and reading at McNally Robinson last night. It was such a positive, happy crowd and people even bought books!
Friends, family and fellow authors and even a few people I didn’t know! My appreciation to Marcy at McNally for hosting the event; she’s one of the reason why we love McNally and why it feels like a cozy neighbourhood book store. A big bookstore with a little bookstore heart. McNally is carrying Flourish, so you can still get a copy there, from Amazon.ca or from me.
Dr. Ron Marken, my former English professor, was there, as were other local authors like Leona Theis, who’s always been so generous with her encouragement. I appreciated the support!
And, of course, my friend Jian. It was a pleasure sharing billboard space with you…This is probably as close as I’ll ever get to him! He is coming to Saskatoon, though, February 2nd.
My head is huge!
They’re advertizing my upcoming reading on the big electronic reader board outside McNally Robinson bookstore on 8th Street. The best thing is that I’m looped up with with Jian Ghomeshi, who is in town February 2nd at the Broadway Theatre. He’s wonderful! I haven’t had a crush on anyone at CBC since Peter Gzowski. Well, maybe Stuart McLean…

Restoring faith in niceness
If you, like me, go a little numb and heartsick from a constant barrage of bad news about bad people, peak oil, hockey player salaries, tax hikes, and shootings, settle back with a nice cup of tea and a box of kleenex for this. Then promise yourself to go out and do something nice for someone tomorrow. Thanks to my pal and consumate photographer Heather Fritz who posted this on her blog.
