Well, that’s annoying

The birds evidently want to make sure we don’t make beetle pickles this fall. Once they had their way with the beets, they started in on the Swiss chard. I think netting is in order for next year. Ed is useless as a protector of the produce. Though there have been jackrabbit sightings as close as the alley and next door, our lettuce seems safe so far. Perhaps that’s what Ed considers worth guarding.

HOME girls

My mom went along to meet Saskatoon HOME publisher and my pal Amanda Soulodre at our recent editorial meeting. We lined up the story assignments for the fall issue, due out in early September. Mom’s been a HOME reader for years, and now that she’s a Saskatoon citizen, this was her first chance to meet the woman behind it all!
