We started the last day of 2023 with a lovely sunrise and as we close out 123123, we wish for a happy new year for everyone. We had a little celebration bash for my dad’s 96th birthday. We showed up with Mom, armed with chocolate cake, snickerdoodles, cards and mostly importantly a bottle of hooch. He enjoyed the visit, had a few snoozes, had a sip of his favourite brandy (he hasn’t had any for a while) and declared, “Wow! This is powerful stuff!” I reminded him how old he is. He said, “Good god. Amazing. Well, what the hell.” We ended the afternoon with a visit to our friend Todd’s mom in RUH, and took a moment to enjoy the view from the hospital parkade. Hang in there, Dad and Maxine, and all the best to all in 2024. Let’s think happy thoughts!
